Mr. Greek, a Toronto based chain of Greek restaurants, is apparently bringing two or three locations to Tacoma this Fall. What does that mean for us? I have no idea. Okay, we’re fans of Greek food. And if that Greek food can be ordered with retsina and giant beans, it’s even better. I don’t think this qualifies as great, or even good, Greek food… but we’ll keep an open mind.

It seems like Tacoma is turning into Lynnwood with all of these new to the area restaurants. I don’t know if that is a good thing or bad thing.
After doing a bit of digging, I did find a vacant lot owned by Nader Morcos the franchisee.
It is located on East 72nd Street across East I Street from the Sears Outlet store. Doesn’t seem like the best location for a greek restaurant but maybe something else is planned there.

Guess I can keep dreaming of some local Greek-American opening a higher-end taverna, closer to the type I loved in Athens as a kid.
Capital Hill has at least two that are closer to this aethetic.
Sigh…

Greek is good. Has anyone been to the Pita Pit yet on Pacific & 9th? Good? Bad? suggestions?

Been to Varsity Grill – I’m going to be one of those fussy critics and give it 3.9 out of 5. It’s better than the Katie Downs and much better than Jillians but missing that local-business flavor.

What we really need is a sit-down Greek place like Costas in Seattle’s Fremont district, or perhaps the Costas in the U District. Kids love to order the flaming saganaki (sp?.
It’s Greek to Me at Sixth and Sprague would be good if it had more seating, but it’s too cramped and no wine. Domestica red and white is essential.
Does anybody know more about Mr. Greek?

At least ya’all have “Its Greek to Me” – (Or Johnny’s in Lakewood) – Love and adore them both – having just moved to DC the quote/unquote “greek” restaurant up the street from my new place would be a 2 outta 5….. You win some, you loose some.
Go Tacoma! I Miss you!
