RSS Feed Changes on Exit133 (10. October 2006, 08:13 by Derek Young) ~

If you use the RSS features of this site, I changed a few things that may affect you. The basic idea is that I changed the way comments are handled in the feed. I turned off the ‘feature’ that reposted articles every time a comment was submitted. I then created a comments only RSS feed for those of you that are most interested in the discussion. This should clean things up a bit for everybody involved – at least in my opinion. The links to the feed are on the left sidebar. If you have any problems with the revised feeds, please tell me.

Works great. Thanks for the addition! Any chance of getting more of the regular posts in the RSS feed (especially photos)? I’m just getting a short text summary in my Exit133 feed.

Could somebody please explain what RSS is and how to use it?

Do I need to download some sort of program?

Thanks

Gorman, it’s just a simple way to keep track of news, blogs, forums, etc all from one spot. Here’s a good primer:

You can download an RSS reader or you can use an online service like Bloglines (bloglines.com) or MyYahoo (my.yahoo.com)

Gorman,
Here’s by far the best explanation of RSS for the everyday person.

Give it a read and I’m sure you’ll be “Ready for Some Stories” in no time.

I use RSS most via a personalized Google page. Every time I open Google I can see the headlines for the sites I regularly read. It makes for efficient multi-tasking.
