Win A Trip To Tacoma? (10. October 2006, 13:43 by Derek Young) ~ Woo Hoo!

I received an email this morning with the subject line, “Have we made it yet?” and an attached pdf document. What did I find? It’s a flyer for an ‘opportunity’ to win a trip to Tacoma and Seattle. But if you look at the photos and the itinerary, it’s all about Tacoma. Okay, it’s more about the Museum of Glass than us, but still… In addition to the flight to SeaTac, one would receive:

  • Private limousine to Tacoma for lunch.
  • Docent-led tour of the Museum of Glass
  • Guided walking tour of historic downtown Tacoma…
  • Gourmet dinner for 6 at trendy new Tacoma restaurant Two Koi
  • One night’s stay at a premier Tacoma hotel

Do we have a premier Tacoma hotel? Well, we’re working on it at least…

I may believe that we’re a destination. I may even tell people to give us a chance as a destination. Seeing us as a prize winning destination. Oh yeah, we’ve made it now. The actual drawing is over, but we can bask in the glory of the flyer. The first of many, I assume.

I like the Sheraton Hotel and used to meet clients in the lobby there. It appears to be rated around three stars to three and a half stars.

Nice yes. Premier? Probably not.

Yes, we are. Hopefully, we will have one soon.

“What about the Marriott?”

I bet lots of people in the Bay Area can’t wait to get away from the drudgery of their depressed, downtrodden, economically struggling, dirty and crime-ridden cities (San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose) to come see us. Tacoma would probably look like heaven to anyone struggling through life in ghetto San Francisco.

I have not looked at it until tonight. However, the locations of 4 star hotels in Washington and Oregon is pretty interesting. According to Expedia.com, it does look as if Tacoma is critically lacking in upper end hotels in comparison to other nearby cities.

I never thought I would live to see the day Spokane out-classed Tacoma…

I guess this contest proves that just living here makes us winners.

I’m sure the Spokane hotel listed is the Davenport. If you are in Spokane you need to stay there. A 5 star hotel for
