Korsmo Construction Relocates to Tacoma (18. October 2006, 10:32 by Derek Young) ~ Moving In

There are a couple reasons I find this press release interesting. The first is the relocation of a company into Tacoma. That’s always a good sign. The second is the use of Foss Landing on the east side of the Thea Foss as commercial space. The rest is… well… a press release. Welcome to the neighborhood.

John Korsmo Construction, Inc. will move its headquarters to Tacoma’s Thea Foss Waterway in early 2007.

Korsmo Construction, in partnership with Neil Walter Company, will renovate and occupy the new Foss Landing building on the east side of the waterway at 1940 East D Street. The site is located next to the State Route 509 cable-stayed bridge. Foss Landing is undergoing a conversion from warehouse to office space and is scheduled to be completed in spring 2007. Korsmo Construction’s headquarters has been located in Lakewood since 1947. “Moving to downtown Tacoma is very exciting for our company,” said John Korsmo, Jr., president of the family-owned business. “We’ve experienced a lot of positive growth during the past few years and have outgrown our current office space. We are historically attached to Lakewood, so it has made for an emotional decision.” Korsmo chose Foss Landing for the chance to build out its own space and be a partner in the building. Additionally, it is very accessible for its clients and visitors, while providing future growth for the company, he said.
