Did you know that Stadium Bistro opened tonight? I read about it at the Spew, but it didn’t sink in. So, as I was walking to meet a friend at Doyle’s, I got distracted by the shiny new espresso machine, full liquor bottles, and clean white linens of Stadium Bistro right next door. Then, as I put my nose to the door for a closer look, it opened. Now I’m committed. We’re going in!

The meeting location was quickly changed and we got to try some amazing food and drinks. Our bartender, Mike, served some great martinies. We weren’t there for entrees (we’re having a very official meeting, remember), so we limited ourselves to appetizers and desert. The French onion soup received rave reviews from those around me. My apple tart was quite fabulous.

Stadium Bistro isn’t inexpensive with entrees in the mid-twenties and up, but it is definitely in a price point needed for the Stadium District / St. Helens area. It’s good food and a decent atmosphere without being pretentious. I liked it and I hope you check it out.

For those late night folks – The Stadium Bistro is open late. Quite late, actually. They offer a very affordable tapas menu starting at 10:00 pm and the doors don’t close until 1:00 am. Tapas and drinks within walking distance (sorta) of my house. This could be a bad thing…

Did we get any work done tonight? Some… Maybe.

We had lunch there today (Nov 21) and it was great!!! I had the Venison with wild mushrooms, and my husband had salmon with an olive salad—also tried side dishes of pequillo peppers filled with cheese and a potato salad. Finished with chocolate truffles. Would have had an espresso too, but we were running late. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the amounts were just right for lunch (enough, but not too much). We liked it so much that we made reservations for Friday night. Yay!
