What an odd selection of host stores…
“While you’re out enjoying the arts, you can pick up some liquor, huckleberry pancakes, a case of motor oil, and a can of olives, all paid for with a convenient cash advance.”

I beleive that these projects all stemmed from Innovative Grant Applications for neighborhood beautification projects. These grants are available each year from the Neighborhood Councils. If you’re interested in more information, contact the council in your area or Elton Gatewood with the City of Tacoma at 591-5229. Some of the deadlines were extended this year due to a lack of applications. It would be great to have more applications than funds!

I went on a tour to see these new artworks. Each one of them is really good: individual, highly crafted, glamorous even! What a fabulous and personalized addition to the 6th Avenue streetscape! Congratulations to Claudia and the 6th Avenue Business District Association for selecting the artists, finding the money to pay them, and then finally, getting the art located, and then SECURED on the street with the help of the city. . .
