Dockyard Derby Dames Seek New Dames (20. November 2006, 13:29 by Derek Young) ~ It Won't Hurt
SparkRobot has posted an email from the Dockyard Derby Dames announcing tryouts:
The Dockyard Derby Dames (Tacoma’s ONLY all girl flat-track roller derby league) have scheduled tryouts! This means any girl, age 21 and over, that posses grit , determination, and derby desire can come out to our rink on Sunday December 3rd, from 10am to noon, and bid for a spot on our league. Tryouts will be held at the SkateN Station, at 133rd and Pacific Ave. Good exercise, great friends, and awesome fans are all things that are included in the derby experience, but we are also looking for dedicated women that can commit to our practice schedules and be positive team players. Prior experience is not necessary, but good attitudes, determination, and desire to learn are a must!
There must be a few roller derby aficionados in the Exit133 crowd with the grit necessary to compete. Who wants to make an impact? Anybody in?

(Make an impact???) Sounds better than bocce! Uh, I mean if I played bocce. To be more inclusive, I heard that this new league could also use some ref’s. If this is true, this could really open the door to participation by more of us E133’ers. I really don’t want to see you E133 friends resort to dressing in drag just to participate. (Not that there’s anything with that.)

Hmm…I can only remember one theoretical bocce player who endearingly refers to this site E133. What are you going to pay me to keep quiet?? haha

Used to run into some of them at a secret favorite tavern of mine where they’d stop after practice. Glad to see plans still going stong – It will be a great rivalry with Seattle’s Rat City Rollers. This is so Tacoma. Just checked out Derby Dames’ website, and it’s true:
“....We are in search of coaches, refs, mascots, etc.” (etc.?)
I think we have not seen the last of this topic on… EXIT133.
