Locally Produced Knitted Cupcakes (21. November 2006, 09:41 by Derek Young) ~ Hitting The Big Time

I saw these amazing knitted cupcakes created by a “Ms. Darcy” on the ever popular BoingBoing. BoingBoing was tipped off to them by Kevin. GritCity did some digging around to discover, via Exit133, that Ms. Darcy is the wife of local illustrator and wall humorist, R.R. Anderson. Small world. Sometimes I’m a little slow…

Update
Rec’d via email:

Greetings Tacoma Crafters! A newly reformed branch of Tacoma’s “Chicks with Sticks” Knitting League of Friends invites you to An Undisclosed Location for the purposes of solidarity! “Our decision to mobilize has been spurred in part by the recent publicity generated through a post on BoingBoing, exit133 and The Tacoma News Tribune’s propaganda blog GrittyCity .” Says an electronically disguised voice, “Our fearless leader [Ms. Darcy] will make an appearance and teach party cadets how to create their own knitted cupcakes. And with this knowledge they will be free from their kitted desert hording oppressors.”

For more information on this upcoming pay-as-you-can symposium, contact Ms. Darcy directly at: www.darcyscrossing.com

We’re thinking about setting up some kind of cupcake baking (read: knitting) symposium… possibly a spin off of the popular ‘chicks with sticks’ friends knitting league; anyway we just need a space. Also there has been quite a demand for the little woolly cakes as Christmas presents. Would you like a Ms. Darcy original? Contact her directly:

Just promoting our own — It’s been fun to watch Ms. Darcy’s projects and see other photos via Mr. Anderson’s Flickr sets

We should keep our eyes out for BoingBoing or other nation blog worthy stuff in our town. Between this and the Deriugin house, we’ve got plenty of fun stuff to share with the world!
