This just in from the City of Tacoma’s Roxanne Murphy:
Some might say that Santa Claus and life-size monster trucks have very little in common, but Tacoma’s Portland Avenue Business Association disagrees with that notion.
This weekend they’re hosting a Santa’s Monster Truck event from noon to 3 p.m. on Dec. 2 in the Key Bank parking lot at the corner of 72nd and Portland Avenue where the young and the young-at-heart will have an opportunity to get their picture taken with Santa, and a monster truck, too.
Santa will offer candy canes and hot chocolate, and the event will feature a raffle with gifts including an iPod, diamond earrings and a Play Station.

I want photos.

I wonder if this Santa will have a mullet.
Hehe. You never know what’s going on under that stocking cap.

as an atheist I find the mixing of monster trucks and religious holiday icons offensive. Please keep our monster trucks secular! That being said, Happy X-Day!

Weird coincidence this morning at work. The Oscar Meyer Wienermobile pulled into our parking lot down in the tideflats (yes, I got a whistle). Does that count as a monster truck? It did seem a lot bigger when I was a kid but c’mon…its the largest sausage themed vehicle I’ve ever seen.
