Jazzbones to Serve Sushi (?) (13. December 2006, 20:14 by Derek) ~ Curious

I will admit I have not been to Jazzbones in a long while. Maybe the place has changed… or maybe they just like saba and spider rolls as much as I do. According to Spew, Jazzbones will begin serving sushi on December 15th. Jazz and sushi. It sounds like a good combination to me.

This isn’t Friday, is it?

I remember going into Pacific Grill when they first opened. At the time they said they were going to do a sushi bar too. Anyone know if they went forward with this? Obviously, I don’t get out enough…

Morgan, I think there was sushi at Pacific Grill, but they ended up closing that section down. I don’t know if it was cost-prohibitive, lack of interest, etc. Wasn’t their specialty, anyhow.

In that vein, think I’d rather hear jazz at an authentic sushi place, rather than some sushi bar that Jazzbones tacks on…seems odd with their New Orleans-type environment. Is sushi big in New Orleans? Will they allocate funds to hire master sushi chefs and have the set-up they need for the strict compliances around raw fish prep, etc?

As I remember, Two Koi had some kinda jazzy/bluesy tunes playing when I was there…not that Jazzbones isn’t way cool…I just probably wouldn’t go there for my sushi.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEREK!!!
