Pearl Django at Mandolin Cafe on Feb. 10th (25. January 2007, 13:59 by Derek Young) ~ We Love It

Pearl Django is one of those local musical institutions that always amazes. Once upon a time, they played at our office’s Christmas party. There were awesome. Unfortunately, there were only about six of us that realized how cool they were and how cool we were by proximity. Yeah, you could see them at Jazz Alley in Seattle. Instead, here’s your opportunity to see them someplace small and intimate.

Rec’d via email:

On Saturday, February 10, Pearl Django will be performing at the Mandolin Cafe at 8pm. This quartet has been entertaining audiences for over a decade with gypsy jazz, swing and other forms of acoustic music. Voted Seattle’s favorite jazz band in 2003, they travel internationally, packing crowds into dance halls, nightclubs such as Jazz Alley, and festivals.

“Peal Django play(s) gypsy jazz…and they do it with such verve, skill and pleasure that they’re pretty much irresistible to jazz and non-jazz listeners alike.” Seattle Weekly

Buy your tickets now from the Mandolin Cafe – 759-2317- $13 in advance, $15 at the door. Come early and get a good seat and a bite to eat!

I absolutely love their music but how viable is Mandolin as a venue for the large crowd this group could draw? I saw one Sunday morning bit of musical entertainment once and the only place you could get any peace and quiet was outside listening to traffic.
