This just in from our intrepid correspondents, Mark and Tressie:
We attended the Dockyard Derby Dames toga party and Jell-O tm wrestling event at The Garage on Saturday night. At 9:00 there were 35 togans and 15 in civvies, plus the burliest doorman and Id checker recently seen with 6 assorted bulky dudes scattered around the place to keep the peace. The thumpin housewreckin’ machine music (say goodbye to your hearing kids) seemed perfect for the thumpin’ bumpin’ Derby Dames. Adorably wicked merchandise was for sale embossed with the DYDD vixen smilin’ to soften you up just before they knock yer arse into the last century. The girls and their boys were a nice bunch. We will be sure to attend their first match May 5th at The Tacoma Soccer Center.
Watch out for the wings at the Garage they’s hotter n hades!
Khaotic of the Femme Fiannas informed us that The Dockyard Derby Dames is the name of our own home town Tacoma league. We had thought it was a team. Well, there are four teams in the DyDD league – The Femme Fiannas, The Hellbound Homewreckers, The Trampires and last but not least The Marauding Mollys. There are 13 members per team. Ollie Oxen of the Marauding Mollys explained how roller derby works. The object of Roller Derby is to get your teams “Jammer” through the pack and lap around the track. If this is accomplished with no “fouls” the team receives 5 points. If you incur fouls you get 1 point. Now we know.
Was there Jell-O wrestling? We couldn’t hang in there long enough to find out. Did they meet their Spring Funddrive goals? Will there be new uniforms? Or, does this mean a season of nude skating this year? We hope to hear soon, so stay tuned for answers to these and life’s other pressing questions.

Mark and Tressie! The best correspondents out there!! I totally forgot to go, too tired from working two jobs and taking classes online. I must make the next event.

Thanks for the kind words. And to answer your questions…yes, there was jello wrestling and what a time that was, although clean up as always proves a difficult task. Thanks to everyone’s support, we are well on our way to new uniforms. Great meeting you. *Ollie
