This story is just plain bizarre. A dead fawn, dressed like a baby, was left outside the Pantages Theater on Tuesday night. A note pinned to it said, “You think I’m cute? You should see my aunt”. Right…

Wow, that’s really sad and creepy. A twisted sign of Tacoma’s success — as we grow more, strangeness like this and even some impromptu editorials could become commonplace.

Why?
Why does the Seattle Media contiune to pick up on stories like this and ignore positive things happening in Tacoma?

It’s because Seattlites are closet Tacomans.
People can be really cruel. That story sucks.

It’s very disturbing, but I don’t think it’s anti-Tacoma bias. The media love to report weird, freaky stuff like this — it gets lots of clicks.

This is really really wierd. I am suprised we didn’t see the story in the TNT.
Did you guys see the TNT article on the school board today…disturbing I think.

Derek, if it went out via The Sun, don’t trust the source, they like the weird and freaky. It’s a bit disturbing that it’s five blocks from the tipster’s office. Perhaps it’s an animals rights stunt or a disgruntled employee. Although it sheds a weird like on Tacoma, it’s still news.

PT Barnum said “bad press is good press, no press is bad press.”

Derek, if it went out via The Sun
True about the Sun. We first saw it on the International Herald Tribune’s site.
Is this the work of the Kulture Lab kids or Erik H? I wonder.. .

Ack! RR, what are you saying! I hope you didn’t think that the Horatio would leave this for the BCPA?
I know we’re billed as the “fringe” theater but … man … decorating baby deer with cryptic notes is far beyond what I would consider even the fringiest of fringe theater.
Man …
In support of Paul’s comment, I saw the headline on Lights & Siren this morning, after I’d finished reading E133, of course.

Sorry Erikemery… I just remember your ‘do something big’ art stunt post in the forum. anyway, Somebody should make a baby deer zombie puppet! That would be rad!

RR, something big would be great! But if the Horatio ever tries a publicity stunt we will keep the dead animals out of it.
After your suggestion, however, I am now very worried about Tuesday’s Tacomic… :)
PS—has anyone wondered if the fawn’s “aunt” is the Elks Temple? Or is that trying to read too much into something that is just supposed to be random?

Are baby elk considered fawns or are they something else? Maybe this was a baby elk?
18 | Posted by Erik Hanberg | May 11, 09:45 AM
A baby elk is called a smelk.
Or is it a whelk.
Whatever.
