The Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce announced the winners of the “New Tacoma Awards” at their City Center luncheon today. We feel quite honored to have been nominated for the Union Station Award. Fellow purveyor of online words and community, Kevin Freitas, was nominated for the Popham Award. Seeing our websites on a list with such notable individuals was stunning, humbling, and revealed to me the tremendous synergy between Tacoma’s virtual and real world. Congratulations to all the nominees and winners.
The categories, nominees, and winners are:
(winners in bold)
Ghilarducci Award
Recognizing successful new development, renovation, or beautification.
Popham Award
Recogning the individual that has done the most to build community.
Union Station Award
Recognizing leading companies or individuals that have built or sustained momentum for revitalization.
Schoenfeld Award
Recognizing exemplory performance (and pizzazz!) as a retailer.

What an impressive list of nominees! I believe that with each coming year in Tacoma, it will grow more and more difficult to keep the nominees to just four per category!
It was a nice event. Congrats to both members of our online family. Not only were the two sites mentioned, but also Feed Tacoma, which includes so much good work from lots of people.
(And I also found out that our peeps clean up pretty good…blazers and a great tie on Kevin!)

Rock out with your clock out my friends! We of the forge salute you.
Ms. Darcy give her endorsement to the fine quality of Dame Lola’s designer dresses. However, we’re both wearing fine Leroy Jeweler symbols of wedlock on our fingers. Go team Schoenfeld!
