A Very Tacoma Christmas ( 7. December 2005, 07:30 by Derek Young) ~

So now we’re back from our vacation and a bit behind on the Christmas shopping. Okay, I’m behind on the Christmas shopping. This Christmas I thought it would be great to support Tacoma business as much as possible. I could spend my money at mega-corporate super chains, but I’d rather keep the money around here. So what does Tacoma offer? If we were to put together the ultimate gift guide for Tacomans, what do you think should be on it? I’m thinking that items on the list should do at least one of the following:

• support a local artist
• support a local small business
• be manufactured in Tacoma

Maybe a $5 piece of art from the Art-o-Mat at BKB Company. Or how about a Ben Cobb original from the Museum of Glass hot shop. A gift certificate to Primo Grill wouldn’t be too shabby. It’s a little too early to ask for a Sucasas.
