Public Art on the 21st Street Bridge (17. June 2007, 18:18 by Derek Young) ~ Something Different

As I drove to the grocery store yesterday I saw a tarp on the 21st Street bridge surrounding two people as they cut at a tree trunk. I thought at the time that I should stop on my way home. It didn’t look like they were removing the trunk. But I didn’t pass by the bridge again. Today, these photos arrived in my inbox. The old maple had fallen in the storms this last winter. Now, in its place, are two faces carved in its trunk. We like guerrilla public art. Thank you.

How great are those? I’ll have to drive by to see ‘em for myself. It’s always amazing when talented people turn something like that into art.
