We met Pete the very first day that Stadium Bistro was open. It was an accident. We walked in the open door and found ourselves presented with some of the most innovative food in the city. That was last year. Now, Stadium Bistro has become our default business meeting, birthday party, and late night tapas location. The $8.00 sandwiches at lunch, particularly the hand cut reuben and the Blue Baron, are a regular addiction. Plus, Pete likes Tacoma and loves to talk about it.
We’re happy there are so many people in Tacoma with this kind of passion and talent. Pete shows that there are good reasons they call it culinary arts.

Great stuff. I’m glad somebody is making a record of these interesting characters. Have you considered starting and exit133 depository at archive.org ?

I had never heard of Stadium Bistro. Woohoo! A new place in Tacoma to check out. Love it here.

Nicely done guys. Man, do I hope PW is right about the on-going emergence of Tacoma as a food town.
If you are on a budget, hanging at the bar at SB is a great, great option. The small plates and tapas selections are ridiculously cheap and of the same standard as the dining room menu (try the short ribs!!). I was really surprised and heartened by the depth and quality of the wine-by-the-glass menu. It is just a cool and comfortable place to hang. If you want to drop a bomb, they’ll acommodate you, but you can also do a quick/inexpensive bite of wonderful food.
Cheers to Chef Pete!

Nice job on the video Guys.
I’m not usually inspired to the point of blogging, BUT this one I can’t let go by.Yes, I go to Stadium Bistro all the time, it usually starts out like this “Pete I’m hungry, cook me something”. I remember looking at a menu once but don’t remember what’s on it. It doesn’t matter to me. I simply want fresh, high quality ingredients skillfully prepared (innovation is fun too). It seems simple enough at first but I CAN be a bit of a snob when it comes to Food, Ale and Wine. I actually am downright offended when I see some of the garbage that some places have tried to pass off as food (most recently a certain unnamed Cruise Line). I don’t know about you, but there was no place I could go where I could completely trust whatever came from the kitchen without question. Until now.
I’ve lived in Tacoma just about ten years. It used to be Stanleys or Lobster Shop were the only game in town if you wanted really good food. That was then, this is now. The new guys in town really raised the bar. Pacific Grill, El Gaucho, Masa, Matador, Puget Sound Pizza (I had to throw that one in) and the list goes on…
But given all the numerous choices now I still would rather say “Pete I’m hungry, cook me something”. I can go to Stadium Bistro and get it all. Nice place, Awesome Food, Great Drinks, Great Wine and don’t forget the people. It’s true that the Chef is the Captain of the ship but it takes Captain and Crew to get the job done.

Jeff, I agree with you about the emerging food scene. You should have been here when I moved here for the first time in 1990. It sucked BIG time. There was really only one place to go for decent food, the Pacific Rim in the building where Cans is now operating.
I have to add a couple of restaurants to your “bar raising” list: First off, PRIMO. Charlie and Jackie really invented the creative kitchen here in Tacoma. His pizza is still the best in town – absolute killer. When I want a show, I pick a night when Charlie is cooking and sit at the bar in front of the grill. Great to see him work.
Others worthy of mention include Il Fiasco and Europa Bistro. Both first class Italian. Also gotta give a holla to Fife City Bar and Grill where Chef Diana Prine performs little culinary miracles in a Days Inn dining room.
When I jones for fried oysters, it’s gotta be the Swiss. The rest of their menu is good casual sandwich-type fare, but the fried oysters are nuggets of heaven.
Sticking to Tacoma here, I’m not mentioning Brix 25 or Marzanos.
Bon Apppetite Tacoma!

Wassup Pete and Pete Jr.
I just wanted to stop by and show some love. I enjoyed the video, especially the story that Jr. told about his aspirations of becoming a chef as a child. People love stories, you should tell more of them to your guests. It is awesome that we are neighbors, My mom and I absolutly love the food and the company. Not only have I found myself a local Bistro but I have also made new friends!
I love you guys!
P.s.
You know I would attend Hells kitchen night if I wasn’t working. I hope it is a great success. I’m curious to see how many people The Pegster brings in!
Xoxo,
Christina
