Car hits Marcato - Tacoma Ave Closed (30. July 2007, 16:03 by Erik) ~ Condos, now with new garage access ...

We just heard that a car came down S 16th St, failed to make the turn onto Tacoma, and crashed into the Marcato building.

Sounds like the car did a fair bit of damage and busted up some glass and brick. The street is closed while they work on the scene.

Thankfully, from what we hear, the man that was driving appeared to be okay.

I think that car just wanted to make a statement about the need to shift capital in downtown development away from condos and toward class A office. Point taken my teal friend.

Yeah, I recognize this car. He was drivin’ upside down when he approached me for directions. I told him the Marcato was the huge building on the corner of 15th and Tacoma Avenue—-You can’t miss it.

which remind me, whatever happend to the car that plowed through the fence at 2515 Jefferson Avenue a year or two back? That’s the site where 160 apartment units, with 24,400 square feet of commercial and retail space, and 236 parking stalls was just announced:

There was another incident about a month ago. A car coming down 16th hit a telephone pole over by the printer shop. Seems the Marcato is going to need some street barriers on that road.
