The Original Conversation (10. August 2007, 07:32 by Erik) ~ So That's What You Said?

(If you haven’t do so already, Read This First)

Do you know what would be funny for a Satire this Friday?

What’s that?

What if we copied something from English into Portuguese using a web translator and then copied that result back in to English?

Didn’t Monty Python do that on one of their DVDs?

Yes, they did that in the extras for “Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail.”

Do you think people would get the joke?

I don’t know. It’s kind of funny, isn’t it?

I suppose so. What does it have to do with Tacoma, though?

Nothing, I guess, except that we could mention Tacoma in the conversation. I wonder if the name Tacoma would get translated well into Portuguese and back to English.

That’s an interesting question.

I wonder if we could also poke fun at people and not have anyone realize it because the translation was so bad.

Who would you want to make fun of?

Clear Channel?

No, we did that one last week.

City Hall?

They haven’t done anything that bad recently.

The Department of Transportation?

What’s funny about them?

They are closing I-5 for 19 days and the traffic jams will extend from Seattle to Tacoma if things get really bad.

It’s like they’re trying to keep people in Tacoma by clogging the freeways.

Ha! See, we can make a joke out of that! This is a great satire.
