For those of you looking for something to do tonight or tomorrow nights, Okay is in town. The band will be playing Bob’s Java Jive tonight and Club SOTA tomorrow. It should be a great show.

These were great shows — Okay was amazing (I had never heard them/him before), and the local bands (like the Elephants and Wallpaper) represented well. I hope this bodes well for more good indie shows at the Java Jive in the future!

I did hear that it was a fairly packed coffee pot for that show. Good crowd, and the band had no problem collecting a decent door. The good thing about playing at the Jive is that the band takes 100% of the door. The bar just hopes to make good sales. On the other hand, don’t expect the joint to do any promotion or anything else. I love the place, but I don’t think it would hurt the ambience if for example they mopped the floor or cleaned the restroom once every 10 years. But unless they are threatened with closure, it won’t happen. And even then, only if the mop was donated. And the labor. At least the summer ant infestation seems to have subsided. Still, despite the lack of competent management, there’s no place like it in the world, it’s a fitting location, and it’s a pure, fertile ground for emerging bands and their loyal fans.
