The Helm, the newest art gallery in Tacoma, opens this Thursday for ArtWalk. The two creators, Sean Alexander and Peter Lynn, are bringing cutting edge art and creative events to the gallery. Last month, they brought a rock show to Tacoma.
Their first show, The Kindness of Strangers, originated out of a request to national and international artists to “help a stranger” and give the gallery a piece of art for its first show.
In today’s Tribune, Rosemary Ponnekanti has a good feature story about the gallery and its co-creators. Check it out.
The Helm is located at 760 S Broadway in the Bostwick. Their opening reception is 5 – 8 pm Thursday, September 20.
Announcement of the opening also on Spew

Neat. The adjacent space to the gallery has recently been renovated as well into a mortgage office as well by Marie and Elizabeth. This is where the chandelier shop used to be in the Bostwick Building.
This sounds like great news for Tacoma’s art (and indie rock!) scenes. If they’re successful, it could really change things for the better.

just checked this place out. Love the location; What an excellent space. I look forward to the Whiting Tennis show! Can’t wait to show this place off to Ms. Darcy.
