An Exit133 Top Pick
This short film is very well-produced, with interesting graphics and historical information. But at its core is a central premise that holds everything together: footage of a damaged WWII fighter plane making a risky landing, and then showing it to the pilot more than 50 years later. Jim Blyth, the pilot and a Seattle-ite, actually, had never before seen the footage. The film lets us watch the footage and his reaction to it simultaneously. Good direction from William Lorton.
It’s a great short documentary. It holds your interest, you learn something, and it’s entirely well-produced. Spitfire played at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year in front of In the Shadow of the Moon.
