Rick Steves to Speak at UWT (30. January 2008, 14:21 by Erik) ~ Who Knew?

Rick Steves, everyone’s favorite European travel guide, is also a strong advocate of legalizing marijuana. Did you know that? We thought it was kind of a surprising. But it’s true. Here’s the page on his website where he makes his case.

It’s noted in the Exit133 forums today that Steves is going to be on the UWT campus to speak in favor of decriminalizing the drug. I’m sure it should be an interesting discussion.

When & Where
March 6, 1 pm
Carwein Auditorium, UWT Campus
1900 Commerce Street

Reminder: UWT is a non-smoking campus.

Rick Steve’s is totally the man. In addition to deftly guiding my hard living 18 year old self through Europe, he is starring in a production of “A Foreign Affaire” with the FABULOUS Seattle Mens Chorus:

Why is there no Tacoma Mens Chorus? Is there one?

The fact that Rick Steves is an advocate for the legalization for marijuana is way old news, and not surprising at all; considering that the man lives the majority of his life in Europe. He’s talked about this a lot.

The fact that he’ll be here is awesome.

I think he actually gave the keynote at HempFest last year.

That a charmingly geeky little Scandinavian-Washingtonian can be so awesome as Rick Steves gives me hope that someday I could be one-fifth as awesome.
