James Lawson Comes to Tacoma (15. February 2008, 10:38 by Whitney) ~ Celebrate Our History

Associated Ministries, UW Tacoma and several other groups have come together to bring James Lawson to Tacoma to speak for Black History Month. Lawson is a lifelong non-violence advocate and theorist. It’s said that “speaking with Lawson is the closest most of us will ever come to speaking with Martin Luther King Jr.”.

He will be giving three presentations while in Tacoma.

  • Where Do We Go From Here? Forty Years Since Martin Luther King Jr. will take place on Monday, February 25, 7pm, at the Shiloh Baptist Church, 1211 S I St.
  • Dialogue on Economic Justice and the Church will take place on Tuesday, February 26, noon – 1:30pm, at St. John Baptist Church, 2001 S J St.
  • Dialogue on Philosophy and Practice of Non-Violence will take place on Wednesday, February 27, 7pm, at UWT, Room BHS 106, above the UW Bookstore.

This looks like a great series.

Thank you, Morgan
