Point Ruston Gets To Work (18. February 2008, 13:56 by Derek Young) ~ We Do Like The Views

King5 is reporting that construction at Point Ruston is now in full swing. What is Point Ruston? It’s the huge mixed use project on the old Asarco site along Ruston Way. 800+ condos. Single family homes. Offices. Parks. Retail. This last Friday, according to the story, the EPA gave MC Construction approval to continue construction on Stack Hill. It’ll be years before the whole project is complete, but this is one more step forward.

Some day we’ll have that connection from downtown to Point Defiance…

Yes, a continuous walkway from downtown to Ruston. That’s the focus of the Walk the Waterfront group and many others.

The old Asarco site. Its going to take alot of work to clean it up. Good riddance.

I hope they can make it with sufficient density to perhaps support some retail out there so that its not just a remote low density suburban housing project.

I can’t wait until we finish paving over our past. It’s too bad they keep trying to hold on to pieces like that ferry. Even though they put a shiny new finish on the old Steilacoom ferry, I can still see some grit shining through.
