15 Years of the Swiss (28. April 2008, 12:01 by Derek Young) ~ Time To Party!

The fine folks at the Spew reminded us that the Swiss is celebrating their 15th birthday tonight. We’ve spent many long evenings in that pub… several that we don’t want to remember. But, think about it. 15 years at the corner of Jefferson and South 19th. Things have changed in 15 years. Happy Birthday!

Only 15 years? It seems like it’s been around forever – well at least since I’ve been allowed in the bar portion.

So it’s this great old building and there are great old building people around this site, what was in the building prior?

you can check out some of the old pictures at the library’s web site. From the site:

Swiss Hall, 1902-04 Jefferson Ave., circa 1979. The Swiss Society opened their hall here in 1913. It was designed by Heath & Gove. Since 1993, it has been home to the current Swiss Tavern. The building lies on the outskirts of the University of Washington Tacoma campus.
