On the Market: Foremost Dairy Building (25. February 2006, 00:36 by Derek Young) ~

Today’s news is that the historic Foremost Dairy Building on Pacific Avenue has hit the market. So you came to town and looked at the Elks Building. Yeah, the views are nice, but you want more space. Plus, where are you going to find replacement antlers for that sad looking elk over the door. The old historic building thing is nice, but maybe you want something on a flatter piece of land. Here’s your opportunity. Nearly a full city block of historic brick on the light rail route and in between the redeveloped downtown and the (we really hope it will be redeveloped) Tacoma Dome area.

This building has been eyed by developers for a while now. My carpool has talked about it on several mornings as we’ve driven passed its array of small paned windows. Everybody would love to see it become something cool, but the opportunity hasn’t been there for us – until now. At nearly 61,000 square feet it has enough room for at least a dozen urban hipsters to redevelop into a seriously sweet crib. Who has the vision to take this place on? The first guy to suggest a ‘condo’ or ‘high end restaurant’ should be slapped.

I have to say that the listing for this place is absolutely dead boring.

(Thanks for the tip)
