Election Office Surprise ( 6. June 2008, 16:25 by Whitney Rhodes) ~ You Never Know...

With the election office about to close, we witnessed something interesting. A newly shaven Robert “The Traveller” Hill filed to run for Sheriff. He paid the $1300+ filing fee in cash and coins.

We wouldn’t have wanted to count that.

… Sheriff?

‘The Traveler’ says:

“I believe in selling or demolishing the Tacoma Dome…”

A new bus station, perhaps?

This is a little off topic but I hope that Mr. Hill’s brave decision to shave his beard is the beginning of a of a hot new trend. I’m no fan of the beards that hide the handsome faces of many of the young men of our fair city.

I love beards. Grow them, men!

Some of the posts on the ol’ 133 make me feel as though I’m overhearing the end of a private conversation. So, for the sake of the masses, er, many who read here, yet know nothing of Mr. Hill:

+Who is Mr. Hill?
+Why the enthusiasm regarding his quest for Sheriff [RR, Alex]?
+Does he have a theme song for his campaign?

While he may be eminently qualified for such a position, something tells me his resume may be a little light in some key areas. However, I remain open minded enough to be convinced otherwise!

I apologize for the briefness of the post. I was writing it via Blackberry... on a Friday afternoon... while friends were heading to Happy Hour.

For those that don’t know –

Robert “The Traveller” Hill ran against Julie Anderson for the At Large City Council seat last fall.

Mr. Hill has made a few runs for office and has been a regular at City Council Citizen’s Forum for a few years now. He was the main topic of conversation in the City Council thread last week.

Here's his radio interview with the Melon.

His platforms have focused on everything from giving guns to just about everybody including teachers, decriminalizing drugs, knocking down the Tacoma Dome, increasing educational spending on issues of female self pleasuring – the topic that got him shut down at Council last week.

It seems fairly common for Mr. Hill to talk about people that don’t really exist when he’s talking to Council. At least that’s what we understand.

Here’s a copy of his platform from last year. (pdf).

R.R., Can you provide some "best of" Robert Hill images from Citizen's Forum?

Why that’s a fine Idea Derek.
couple of references…

firstly an online traveller fanzine

secondly TV-TACOMA ALL STARS

While I agree with some of his, “out of the box thinking” tearing down the Tacoma Dome doesn’t sound like a good idea. It is one of the view venues that makes money around here.

About his political views: well, it is a free country, he has just as much right as anyone, let’s see how his following helps support him to get elected.

I’m leaning forward to the next Traveller Mellon underground radio interview. Go Chris and Electric Elliot!

Mr. Anderson for Deputy!

I heard that he may have paid for some of his filing fees from a tip jar.

Granted, it was not his own tip jar, rather, it was one that he may or may not have borrowed from a downtown coffee shop.

Heather, the tip jar/2 dollar bill rumor is part of a political smear campaign created by Traveller detractors to raise doubts about his moral character. Dont get fooled! See the blue plastic lunch box in the photo above? Is that the lunchbox of a differently saned person? It’s a question we must all ask ourselves before rushing to draconian judgments.

thank you.

You guys are really scaring me!!
Haven’t you heard of Pat Paulsen??
Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour circa 1968/69?
This is his second cousin thrice removed. Well, actually, he left twice on his own and was removed just once under the watchful eye of Bill “The Terminator” Baarsma.

I have the 2 dollar bill to prove it. This all happened at the Tullys in the DaVita building.

Call the Tullys and ask them, I dare you.

“differently saned”

You are talented and tolerant.
