More Winthrop News (21. March 2006, 14:16 by Derek Young) ~ There's Always Hope

The city council is scheduled tonight to consider a resolution to support or oppose the current bid to rehabilitate the Winthrop. City support would give the developer a better chance of receiving state funding.

The developer, Oakland-based A.F. Evans, plans to spend as much as $21 million to purchase and renovate the building by restoring its grand ballroom, improving commercial storefronts, and transforming 26 units into market-rate apartments. The remaining 168 units would continue to serve as federally subsidized apartments.

We’ve talked about it here before. What are the new issues to consider? Anybody?

I am so done with the Winthrop! As long as SOMEBODY does SOMETHING… ANYTHING! That’s all I care about.
