More Steak In Tacoma? (24. March 2006, 19:56 by Derek Young) ~ It's Never About Need

We’re a fan of restaurant gossip. Condo gossip was so 2004. Anyway, from what we hear, there’s a new steak house in the works at 933 Market. In this town where steak places are the new martini bars, what will set this one apart? A motorcycle theme is what we hear. Our tipster’s comment, “it sounds kinda funny, but it could be interesting.” ... right. We’ll see.

So we have Gary’s Steak Out, Asado, and El Gaucho. We like our steak, but this is a lot of red meat in one place. Did I miss anybody?

Did you mean steak or simply going out and having steak? Heh. Unless you prove/show otherwise, Tacoma newbies such as myself may be persuaded by the online “propaganda” of Goodfella’s Steakhouse and Stanley & Seafort’s.

We mean steak places. Restaurants where the primary entrees are cuts of beef. Is there any character to Goodfella’s? There’s more to life than Stanley’s. It seems to have its place. We have had a few good meals there. However, El Gaucho delivers a steak unlike anyplace else in town. It comes at a price, but it’s something special. Asado also brings something good to the table. To each his/her own. Gary’s? Some people like it. Some people don’t. It’s a special niche.

Skip the steak. I’d just settle for some serious pizza with a crust that has enough gumption and flavor to hold its own. So many places just don’t seem to try. Of course I was raised on Chicago’s Pizzaria Uno and der ain’t none-O-dat out here in the west. Maybe I’m just being grumpy tonight…What was that you said about tequila?

Sorry Derek. I seemed to have slipped off topic.

I know not everyone will agree- but I like the pizza at Cloverleaf Tavern- they might have the closest thing to NY style pizza in Tacoma… Katie Downs is my fave for the thicker crust heavy cheese type pizza…

sorry- but I digress also…
