The Tacoma Club May Lose Its View ( 9. September 2008, 18:59 by Derek Young) ~ My Oh My

The Business Examiner is reporting that The Tacoma Club is in trouble. Tacoma’s “Business and Social Club” is located on the 16th floor of the Wells Fargo Building with a commanding view of downtown. According to a lawsuit, the organization failed to meet its obligations under its lease. The landlord is seeking $84,000 and that the club vacate its space. Both parties are to appear before a judge on Thursday.

Yikes.

Sad.

They recently hired the best matrade in the City of Tacoma.

Didn’t they have some fancy Jazz club there for a while. I thought that was going to be huge for them? Say it isn’t so.

I wonder what the terms of the lease are, and what said violation was.

@1: matrade?

@4 A Malaysian global trade representative. It’s a niche, but a necessary one for a port city like ours.

We may have to do an intervention and get Erik to start attending SA meetings – Spellers Anonymous ;-)

@3 Maybe smooth jazz was prohibited in the lease terms?

@3 Seems like the terms of the lease were something like “you pay us money and you can use the space”. Failure to pay rent seems to have caused an eviction.

@2. A non-fancy blues/heavy metal club serving nothing but Budwieser and hot dogs would have done more to attract attendees. Especially if they had a wet t-shirt night.

@1, 4, 5, 6. Perhaps spell check is a forthcoming feature of Exit 133?

@7. It should be prohibited period. No, never mind. New legislation like that would require bigger government.

These comments were on FeedTacoma.com for the layoffs at the TNT:

This is what happens to a business when it is unable (or unwilling) to adapt to a new environment: it dies.

The TNT is a dinosaur, and appears to be owned and operated by dinosaurs. I offer that its demise is not only inevitable — it is also deserved.

Sounds like the comments might fit for the Tacoma Club as well.

First the TNT, now the Tacoma Club. The next thing you know the Cloverleaf will be in Chapter 11.

Obviously, not paying rent = eviction.
I just wondered if they had done something, like an all-night kegger to piss of the building’s owner(s).

This is horrible. Too bad for Steeno253 that works there. I just hope that she gets paid what is owed to her. How many people could go a month almost 2 without being paid. The consequences are too scary to even think about.
