Tomorrow night, the Asian Forum / League of Women Voters will host a County Executive candidate forum at the Korean Women’s Association’s facility on East 96th Street.
If you haven’t heard Mike Lonergan, Shawn Bunney, Pat McCarthy, and Calvin Goings in person, come check it out. Hear the candidates answer questions related to our increasingly diverse county population. Listen as their answers are simultaneously translated into four languages. This won’t be like the other candidate events.
Plus, I’ll be moderating. It’ll be fun.

Thanks for a great event – I hadn’t seen the candidate’s do their road show, plus it gave me a chance to meet Derek – perhaps even more important!
I’ve had small business Korean clients before, and I’ve always enjoyed them – I can even say ‘Thank You’ in the language, though, unfortunately, I only got the chance to say it once last night.
One of my favorite politicians of a different ideological stripe from my own is Seattle Councilmember Martha Choe. A former school teacher and banker she was a powerhouse in Seattle in her day – perhaps most notably taking a lead on the Rainier Valley segment of Sound Transit. (Which is worth a scenic detour on your next drive to Seattle).
Perhaps the most interesting thing to come out of the night was a call for senior housing with language support – and perhaps design as well! Calvin Goings, a quick thinking pragmatist is supposedly working on it this morning.
