Arts Project Funding Awarded (29. December 2008, 10:13 by Whitney Rhodes) ~ Art!

The Tacoma Arts Commission announced the award of $50,000 in 2009 Arts Project funding to 20 different Tacoma organizations. The awards went to support of public outreach projects in the fields of music, dance, theater, poetry and the visual arts. They range in value from $1,000 to $4,000 and went to a broad section of our arts community.

Funded projects range from the production of a teen musical to a guerilla art project, from traditional Cambodian dance and urban hip-hop classes to poetry readings. Something for everyone.

We saw a few friends on the list, King’s Books, Tacoma Art Place, Tacoma Farmers Market, and the elusive Monkeyshines project.

I can’t wait to see these events happen in the new year.

How about a list of what was funded, what’s new, what’s old, etc? Maybe a short little description if you know what they are…
