MLK Redevelopment RFP Released (18. April 2006, 19:21 by Derek Young) ~ This Has Potential

Anybody looking for a little project? The city has published the RFP for the “Purchase and Redevelopment of 1110 to 1124 Martin Luther King Junior Way (A James L. Walton Hilltop Renaissance Project).” Your response is due by May 30th.

For background: The city began purchasing properties on MLK last year in order to build a mixed use zone that would “cure blight, and promote and preserve public order…” The buildings have been acquired. Now it’s time to find a developer interested in taking on the project. You want in? There’s 112 pages of beautiful RFP legalese you should read before you get too excited. There are a few expectations that you should know about up front…

It was posted to the city website yesterday. So the TNT missed it as a story for today. We’ll see about tomorrow, I guess. If not then, maybe they’re taking their time…
