Brickyard to Close? (20. April 2006, 16:29 by Derek Young) ~ This Is Sad
We now hear that the Brickyard Bar & Grill at South 56th and Washington is going to close. In its place, according to the rumor, will be a Coyote Ugly like cowgirl bar. Hmm…. We’re surprised the Brickyard made it as long as it did, but we were glad to see it around. We hadn’t been there in a while, but the few times we were there it was solid. The bits of Tacoma history sprinkled around the restaurant really made it something special to us.
Please say it isn’t true…

Didn’t the Brickyard only open in what, 2001? I guess five years IS a long time in the restaurant business. Maybe they would have been more successful if they were elsewhere in the city, or if the Sound Transit commuter rail station were built there sooner, kinda like the Sounder has helped the eateries in Freighthouse Square….
