You want a condo in Tacoma, but don’t know about moving downtown? Does the idea of laying out more than $400k for a condo without a neighborhood not jive with your urban hipster ways? We mentioned earlier that the Dorothy at North 3rd and Tacoma is going condo. We now have the price list. So dump out your penny jar and see what you might have, because these are actually almost affordable. Sure you could afford a whole house in other parts of town, but then you wouldn’t be so cool. Buy here and you could walk to the Harvester for wrecked eggs every Saturday morning, grab a cup of coffee at Tully’s across the street, pick up some OJ at Thriftway, then stroll the two blocks back to your cool classic apartment. Total Units: 30 (we think). Price Summary – Median: $284,950. Low: $184,950. High: $364,950.

The stadium district and Broadway seem to be getting most of the new housing.
That’s nice as I have always considered the area right on the edge.
It sure would be nice to see more buildings downtown renovated for housing. There’s a few now but still not nearly enought for a grocery store.
So are all these prices for what has been described as “mostly small studios”? I realize that 185k is quite inexpensive, relatively speaking, especially for the part of the Stadium district that’s somewhat insulated from the dozens of new condos being built just a few blocks south.
But as a single person who earns under 50k and still rents, I’m really starting to despair of ever owning a place in Tacoma.

With a quick look, the cheapest I saw was $187,000 on Broadway for a townhouse.
Foss has got a 500 sq ft condo for $210. Right above Blue Olive. Can’t beat that.

Yeah, there is a sign on Broadway around the 600 block stating that they will all be priced from the 800s to 1.3 million. We will see if they actually sell at that range. But remember, these are view properties of salt water which are always more expensive.
