KUPS Wins mtvU Woodie !!! (13. November 2009, 14:31 by Derek Young) ~ Woo Hoo!

We just received word that KUPS, the University of Puget Sound’s radio station, did it. An MTV crew visited the UPS campus today and surprised KUPS student staff with the Woodie Award for best college radio station in the country. The awards will be taped in New York and televised Dec. 4.

CONGRATULATIONS !!!! Now, for everyone else, turn your radio station to 90.1 FM

I still think it was kind of rigged because so many people at MTV worked music at more sophisticated studios.

Take www.wers.org/ for example. Gets named the best in a larger city almost annually, has a famous live studio fundraiser, and was the first to go HD.

I wonder if they had to say that schools with higher-up execs at MTV weren’t elgibible?

My niece Rachel who is a sophomore at UPS just emailed me (in Colorado) the good news. I was on air in the early 70s. When I was on campus visiting last March I stopped by the station and saw how things had changed. I even autographed a picture of a group of us from those days. It sure brought back a lot of memories. Congrats to all involved with the win. Keep up the tradition.
