Where is Bella Vera? It’s behind the brick commercial / condo building next to the 21st Street Bridge. Did you know there was enough space behind that building for a condo project? Neither did we… Right now it’s mostly a cleared hillside. Anybody have any details?
Here’s a night photo of the project sign.

“It’s even in the neighborhood. It’s across the street from Magoo’s – for good or bad. You can get a haircut without leaving the building.”
The space besides and in back of the brick condo has always been a bit funky.
Often used by bar patrons to park their cars.
As I mentioned earlier it was for sale years ago and keeps exchanging hands while being improved.
Normally, I would object to any condos being built in the North End as, unlike downtown, they have the potential to drag down the area not help it. However, in this case, this little business district needs some help.
I want to know whats going to happen right across the street on 21st at the place right on the gulch which has been boarded up for 100 years. I keep seeing someone tinker around there but making little progress.
There was an old guy there who owned it for years and never wanted to sell it.
Anyone know about it?
Just looked at the Tacoma City Agenda tonight.
Guess what? More condos!

The 3 from Fountain Park are old news… They are the Prium developments… It is interesting to see that the Jay Heights project started as a 54 unit building when they applied for the exemption.. Now it is at what almost 100 units?

Re: old 21st Street building –
The old guy finally got his full asking price (last year?). I met the new owner(s) some time ago – good people.
The last conversation we had was that he lives nearby and this was a part time project. At the time, he was trying to have it wrapped up by Spring when he and his wife were expecting.
I’ve since left messages with him, but have not heard back.
I would love to see a cafe or Red Mill Burger type place…
