Our fine friends at the Broadway Center for the Performing Arts kicked off a major fundraising raffle on New Years Eve during First Night. Raffle tickets for LIVE LARGE sell for $99 each, with the grand prize winner becoming the owner of a new $1 million Tacoma condominium with a mighty fine view.
It’s the largest raffle in state history and the prize list is impressive. Are you in?
Grand Prize: $1 Million Condominium at The Commencement OR $600,000 cash
1st Prize: 3-year lease on a 2010 Toyota Prius OR $7500 cash
2nd Prize: Luxurious 10-day cruise for two on Holland America Line OR $5500 cash
3rd Prize: 7-nights lodging at Villa Paradiso in Bali OR $1500
4th Prize: $1000 cash
The Live Large drawing will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2010
Plus, Early Bird Drawings on February 14th and April 15th for $10,000 cash

I’m assuming they’ll give you $600k instead of the condo if you want it. Personally I’d go with the cash. I can imagine the tax liability on the condo not to mention the possible exposure to toxins.

From the Raffle’s web site:
If fewer than 17,000 tickets are sold by 5:00pm on Saturday, June 26, 2010, the raffle will be held as scheduled, and prizes will be awarded as advertised with the exception that the Grand Prize winner will receive a sum equal to 50% of the Net Raffle Proceeds, equal to a minimum of $25,000 but not to exceed $600,000.
I’d hate to win a grand prize thinking I’m going to get some fancy condo or more than half a million bucks and end up with a measly $25k.

This actually seems like a fun way to support the Broadway Center. I’m gonna buy a ticket for sure. The least I could possibly win is a better Broadway Center. The best is a million dollar tax liability.

It is good that the Performing Arts Center is putting itself and Tacoma on the map w/ this innovative raffle.
