Elks Building Plans Continue to Shift (15. March 2010, 14:14 by Derek Young) ~

A story in The News Tribune this weekend described some little changes to the project that would transform our beloved Elks Building. According to the piece, the McMenamins brothers may now be looking to put the hotel portion of their project in the Pleasants/Moses building on the north lot. This would increase the height of the garage/apartment/grocery project by two stories. At the same time, it would preserve the grand spaces in the Elks Building and potentially increase their chances of a 20% federal historic tax credit. This change comes less than a week after the City Council approved the design/build pre-construction services agreement on the project.

Preserving the spaces sounds okay to us.

Sounds like a change for the better, which in this economy is unheard of. Can’t wait to see this happen!

McMenamins has many concerts and musicians that travel from location to location for them. I’d love to catch a show in the grand ballroom there! or… they also do movies at many places too. A place where you can sit on an old couch, have a beer or food, and watch a movie. Fun!

All in all, great news!

Meanwhile, at the Harmon Hub – they are advertising that the new tap room will open in early April. That’s just a few weeks away.

Great news! I’m glad to hear the project is getting denser all the time.
