Life in Tacoma - Singles Edition? ( 2. May 2006, 07:15 by Derek Young) ~ Living Large in the South Sound

A friend and co-worker is looking to buy a condo and he likes what’s happening in Tacoma. He likes the neighborhoods. He likes the condo options. He likes the day to day pace of things here. He likes the access to Mt. Rainier, the Olympics, Portland, and the ocean. He likes the transformation occurring downtown. However, he currently lives in one of those overly hip double caffeinated Seattle neighborhoods and he has a few concerns about heading south. Mostly, he’s concerned about what life is like in Tacoma for a 30-something single guy. Will he feel isolated down here – forcing him to drive to Seattle for music or other nightlife? Will he see the same people over and over again? Are there enough interesting ways for him to keep busy? I’ve been doing my sales job on the area, but I can’t answer the current day single guy questions. What do you think? Is Tacoma an okay place to be single? Thoughts? Concerns?
