Weekend Preview: big boom ( 1. July 2010, 17:44 by Steve Dunkelberger) ~

There are few things you can count on in life: death, taxes and a cloudy forecast during Independence Day weekend. If you can’t find boom sounds outside, you can find them inside.

The Atomic Outlaws, a very loud and black-leather wearing, big-hair tossing rock band, will be shooting a video at an all-age show at the Stonegate Friday. It might be worth a look.

The Tool tribute band, 46 & 2, and Lurid will be hitting the stage at Hell’s Kitchen that night as well. For something involving fewer ear bleeds, Jazzbones will be showcasing Higher Vibes.

Outside booms around town include the sights, sounds, smells and crowds of Freedom Fair around Tacoma’s waterfront. A more small-town version can be found in Steilacoom, where there will be a street fair, a parade and a historical walking tours.

If none of these fit your fancy, just stay home and eat some hotdogs.
