Spaceworks Tacoma Block Party Thursday (28. July 2010, 19:04 by Halley Griffin) ~ For want of a space

Have you noticed fewer empty storefronts downtown lately?

No? Well, now’s your chance to check them out. Vacant windows along Broadway and Pacific Avenues have been filled over the past month with tangles of white branches, light installments and other artscapes as part of Spaceworks Tacoma (A joint initiative by the City of Tacoma, Shunpike and the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce).

The program was envisioned to work with the ongoing goal of enlivening downtown Tacoma: filling empty spaces, adding public art and generally getting feet on the street.

Get your feet on the street Thursday, and check out the art at the Spaceworks Tacoma Block Party.
