Horseshoes in Wright Park? (28. May 2006, 23:41 by Derek Young) ~ Playing Games

The word on the street is that a few folks from Exit133, and possibly a few Exit133 readers, may be playing horseshoes, croquet, and/or bocce on Monday – Memorial Day – at 1:00 in Wright Park. From what we hear, these folks are pretty poor at all these sports, but try to play anyway. They occasionally know the rules, but usually make them up as they go. You want to drop by and join in? It would probably be useful if you brought a set of horseshoes or a few bocce balls as there’s only one set floating around our neighborhood these days. If it’s raining… we’ll see.

Update – Loads of fun. Our horseshoe pitching skills seemed a bit rusty, but we’ll get better. The real fun started when the bocce balls started rolling…

Decent turnout. The weather held. We’ll do this again soon.

Get outside. Use our parks. Let’s play. If you’d like to be on the email list for future events like this, please send me a note.

Wright park is my favorite park; and I’m not just saying that because I live there. What’s the story with the lawn bowling?

The Lawn Bowling Club, the last time I checked, primary met during the week at a time completely incompatible with a work schedule. Anybody know the details? It could be fun, but it’s not something I’ve done in Tacoma. It’s been a long time since I’ve had my dress whites on…

I think extreme bocci is more my speed.
