Gari of Sushi (15. June 2006, 07:03 by Derek Young) ~ Sushi Everday is Okay With Me

Last night we joined Jamie and Melissa of ThriceAllAmerican fame for a bit of fish at Gari of Sushi on South 38th. We had heard good things about the place, but didn’t know it would be this good or have this much local flare. The outside of the building is a bit worn around the edges, but the interior atmosphere is warm and inviting with large tables, hanging screens, and a fair amount of space between patrons. The rolls are creative and interesting. With names like the Olympia, Tacoma, Tacoma DX, Nixon (?), Rumania, Spanaway, and many others, we had a hard time choosing. The slices of sushi seem particularly large and succulent over a small piece of perfectly formed rice. We’ll definitely be back. Nixon was good…

Jamie beat me to a review, so check out his more thorough thoughts here

I was really surprised with this place too! The exterior does not do it justice- they should do something about it.

yup, Gari is it for us. We’ve been to Fujiya (sp?) and Sushi Tama and while both were fine, Gari’s rolls are certainly more creative which in turn makes them more delicious!

dang, now I’m hungry…
