Johnny’s Seafood, the souce of a lot of our fish over the years, has been purchased by Pacific Seafood Group, the nation’s largest seafood company. What’ll change? Nothing’s been said yet. We’ll see.

I guess we’re kidding ourselves if we think the fish at Johnny’s is straight off of the boat (rather than a truck), but it’s a good place to get fresh fish, and it’s sad to have it not be a locally-owned venture anymore.

Hopefully Pacific Seafoods is willing and able to cooperate with the tentative plans to build a public market area at the Dock St. location. Having a market would be great, and the continued presence of a fish market would provide a good anchor.
