Old Drake's Location To Become Restaurant? (18. July 2006, 09:40 by Derek Young) ~ Bringing More Food to Tacoma

The north end of Pacific is continuing to transform into a hip happening kinda place. Meconi’s is drawing a crowd. Matador and Paddy Coyne’s are on their way. Vin Grotto is already one of our favorite places in town. Now, a bird happened into our office and told us that a ‘nice restaurant’ is going into the Drake’s location on Pacific. The project is currently in an environmental review which slightly baffles us given that it was a bar before. Eh, whatever. It’s the process… Anybody know any details?

Meconi’s has been a great success. Everyone just seems to love the place and it is pretty full from 11:00 a.m. till close.

The former Drake’s location had the potential to be a big benefit or drawback. Nice to see something good might move in there.

As these move in, we might even give the other part of Pacific Ave some competition.

I understand a toy manufacturer has bought the building and plans to house their offices on the two top floors and lease the bottom space to a restaurant/pub? That’s the word on the street…
