Talking About The Weather (21. July 2006, 10:39 by Derek) ~ Sun!

I rarely mention such things as the weather here. If I did, it’d get pretty darn depressing for about eight months of the year. Today seems special. A quick check of weather.com says that we’ll have “abundant sunshine” today. Woo Hoo! Then I read that we will also have an excessive heat warning, an air stagnation advisory, and a smog watch. Time to break out the duct tape and close up the windows…

I don’t find our eight months of cool, grey weather depressing at all. I love it! If it were sunny all the time, our region would become overrun with sun-seekers like CA, FL and AZ. Who wants that?

I 2nd laura—we have it good here weather-wise. Plus, the rain helps keep things green. A mere drive down one of our freeways can blow any non-Northwesterner away with the greenery. Imagine if they actually got out and hiked…

Laura, that sounded like a not-so-subtle dig at our honorable webmaster…

A dig? Nah, wasn’t meant to be…I just happen to be one of the minority who feels that a grey, drizzly day has just as much appeal as a bright, sunny one. (If not more, in my case…maybe I’m a closet Goth?)

Think of it as a practice round. If that whole global warming thing is true, this could be the way of the future.

Personally, I’m loving the heat. Nice, sunny, dry. Better than those 95 degree with 80% humidity nights I dealt with as a kid back in the midwest.

I did see a guy decked out in the finest grunge-wear today, still had a stocking cap on.

Hang on while I go click the air conditioner down another notch….

Weather is constant
It rains then it doesn’t rain
But it’s still weather.

Oooh, is it time for a haiku throwdown?

A heat wave is here
Rain is just a memory
T-Town is sun town

Hey Jamie,

Since “haiku throwdown” is your way-cool term, I want to drop a note into your “virtual suggestion box” that you incorporate a regular side-bar, etc. with such on your site.

I dig it!

Hmmm….I’ll have to work on my haiku writing skills before the throwdown begins, but I like the idea.
