Bocce On Thursdays - Week 10 (17. August 2006, 01:52 by Derek Young) ~ Go For It!

We’re playing bocce in Wright Park again this week. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it. So, Michael’s in charge. Or was it Daniel that I put in charge. Kendall’s new, but he can run it… I’m sure you can all figure it out. Same thing as always. Games will start between 6:30 and 7:00 – or so. Play for a bit. Head out afterwards. All are welcome. Most Exit133 bocce players had never played before joining our Thursday games. Come on out! I’ll see you again next week.

Bocce without the guidance of the overlord of exit133? We must strive to carry on.

Count me in. Working closing shift so I’ll be by a bit later that usual. Daniel has one of my sets so we leave opening play in his capable hands (just watch out, after all he is from the south side of Chicago).

How about Doyle’s after games? I’m sure Ben has a new set of darts he is just dying to try out.

Drizell: Are you going to be joining us for a few games? Your insight into curling is bound to help us polish our skill at bocce. Come on up and play (just leave the broom at home).

Curling? Is that what we’ll play in the winter? Count me in for that one.

I will be making every effort to get to the bocce game tonight. Some family obligations, but we’ll see what can be worked out.

I will indeed show up around 7:00 with one of Mike’s sets.

See you there Daniel!

Hey guys,

sorry to have missed all the action tonight, but I too wanted to finally meet King Derek. Plus it was the only night I could spend at the SW Washington Fair this year.

Definitely see y’all next week and I might just bring the broom for good luck.

How’d it go? I’ve missed all you groovy bocce-nizers! Bocce-nators? Ah, too early to come up with the perfect term.

See you next week…

Dang Art-Walk! Never thought I’d live to see the day when there would be just too much to choose from in Tacoma. Vin Grotto became a surprisingly nice and comfortable place to check out, but I didn’t like hanging out there at the expense of bocce. For me, bocce has become the weekly thing to look forward to. But I’m glad I was able to find you all at Doyle’s later and see so many new and familiar faces. What a neat group – that was a really nice time.
Looking forward to next Thurs. (or Wed. quiz night if anyone shows.)

Quiz night?

8 | Posted by Mike H | Aug 18, 09:43 AM

Doyle’s quiz night – I didn’t want to hijack the thread…but on Wednesdays at around 8:00, Russ hands out a 20-question quiz, then about an hour later, after he grades them, he hands another 20. The winner (or members of winning team), win a shot of Jameson’s and bragging rights until next week. It’s not so much a trivia, as typical quiz include a few trick questions, many thinking-type questions (such as math problems, word-games, or what-am-I questions), and the last ones are usually common and obscure news-related items from the previous week. It can be a difficult, and there are always a few people get bent out of shape and argue about answers. I think the bocce group would do well. Other having to watch my budget, there are worse things than Doyle’s two nights in a row.

Sounds fun. But Mike, before you answer…where’s my bocce report??

TGIF

Laura, Mike can’t give you much of a report because, as someone from the north side of Chicago, he seems to need to arrive fasionably late. Gotta keep up appearances, after all. Thus, he missed much of bocce.

We had about 15 people and three games going. Some of us got hungry for cake around 8:30 and tried to go to Corina Bakery, but they were closed. We headed to Doyle’s after that.

Rest assured that bocce can continue in the absence of our webmaster!

Daniel, you rock!!

Let them eat cake, eh?

Thanks for your effort and your always-witty contributions:-)

A former Chicago northsider late? We always appear where we want at exactly the time we want.

With shorter days looming on the horizon, a few intrepid bocce-nators (the superior term I believe) have taken it upon themselves to develop their skills at darts. The spirit of good natured competition continues after the sun goes down.

A good night and good company this week. Hope to see everyone next time.
