A New Flying Boots… & Wings?

We got a question this week about activity at the old Flying Boots Cafe on South 38th, so we went looking for some answers.

A new business license for "Flying Boots & Wings" doing business at the old Flying Boots address at 614 South 38th Street. The license has an account opening date of January 9, 2014, suggesting that they could be ready to go any day now.

We also found a few things on Facebook, including a comment on the old Flying boots page.

Flying Boots purchased by a NEW owner. Currently repairing and remodeling. Targeted Grand Opening of the All New Flying Boots Late January 2014!

And a brand new Facebook page for the new Flying Boots & Wings, with a post from January 3 promising a January 10 soft opening.

Welcome to our page for the ALL NEW Flying Boots and Wings! We are excited to re-open this iconic and historic Tacoma Bar! Our target date for a soft opening is Next Friday January 10th. We've made some changes inside that we think you'll love! Hired a great staff including some of your old favorites as well as new people excited to serve you! We'll be having Karaoke and music every night as well as Beer Pong Wednesdays, Darts, Pull tabs, an ALL NEW MENU featuring our famous WINGS, Barstool Bingo Tequila and Taco Tuesdays, Thirsty Thursday Ladies Night, Fireball Fridays, Moonshine Saturdays and Industry Night Sundays. Spread the word. Flying Boots is back in biz. Our boots are flyin and our wings are fryin!

Then, in the wee hours of January 7, this:

Opening postponed. Stay tuned for new opening date=)

Looks like we'll have to wait a little longer to try the wings and the moonshine.

That's what we found - maybe you know more?

Update: The new owners are finishing up some remodeling work and hoping to open by January 24. Read a little more on the new owners and their plans for the bar from the TNT.

Great to hear they are keeping some of the old staff.  If they can get a good beer selection other than just bottles, that place will live on for another 100 years.
